Care and Courtesy in our Community!

Several members of our community living close to school have shared their concern and anger about careless and dangerous parking by parents of Ravenor pupils.

These concerns include:

·               Parking across and blocking driveways

·               Stopping cars in the middle of the road blocking the road for all other drivers

·               Parking carelessly across two spaces

·               Parking illegally on the school zigzag markings

Please ensure that you park legally and considerately when you drop off or collect your child/ren.  Dangerous parking  poses a real risk to the safety of pupils.

We will work with parents, members of our community and local groups to improve parking near the school by:

·               Requesting regular ’visits’ to the site by parking enforcement cameras which have the power to issue fines for dangerous/ illegal parking

·               Requesting regular  police patrols at the beginning /end of the school day to    monitor parking

·               Including in Newsletters from the next issue registration details of cars seen to be parking dangerously or carelessly

·               Developing our school travel plan to encourage ‘park and stride’ schemes, cycling to school, groups walking to school ,to enable us to cut down on the number of cars used to drop off and collect pupils .We hope that working together we can improve the conditions for all members of our school community in and around our school.

·

UNIFORM REMINDER

Please note that in the interests of Health and Safety  children  should remove ear rings before they come to school. We  ask children with large ear rings to remove these and ask you to collect them from the school office at the end of the school day.

Thank You.

School Meals

Members of our School Council having been asking the children’s opinions on school meals.

The children made some suggestions for improvements  that they would like to see.

These included the availability of Halal Meat and Packed Lunch each day.

The catering managers have agreed with both these  requests. Halal meat will be

available each Monday and Tuesday, a fish option will be available for all each

Wednesday, and non Halal Meat will be available each Thursday and Friday. We will

communicate the children’s wishes to the caterers and hope that these new

arrangements will be in place following the half term break.

PLEASE NOTE THAT SCHOOL WILL BE CLOSED TO CHILDREN FOR POLLING ON 6TH MAY 2010.

FOUNDATION STAGE NEWSLETTER

Dear Parents/Carers of children in Sunshine, Raindrop and Snowflake Groups,

Thank You.

Welcome to the first of our regular newsletters. We are delighted by the way that  the children are settling in and enjoying their busy sessions. Thank you for all your help, encouragement and support which has made this

possible.

A Key Person for your child; a Key person for you to contact!

Your child now has a ‘key person’ who knows them well and keeps a careful track on their well being and progress. This person is also available to speak with you about any issues/ information about your child. Please check  the  photographs on the display boards outside the classrooms to see who is the ‘key person’ for your child.

Time to Talk!

In Foundation Stage Two (Raindrop and Snowflake) we value the opportunity to speak with parentscarers between 8.40 and 8.55 each morning. Please do stay with your child in the outside area during these times and help your child to settle into the early morning routines.

A Quick Change

We would be very grateful if you could pass on any spare clothes that you may  have which are of a suitable size  for the children in our classes .

From time to time children may need to change clothes during the day and spare clothes are a great help

Could you please donate any unwanted empty boxes, packets, magazines for the children to use in the classroom.

‘Reading For Fun’ Meeting for parents of children in Raindrop and Snowflake Groups.

You are warmly invited to join us on Wednesday 21st October at 9.00 a.m. in the school hall to find out how we can work together to support your child in becoming a reader and in developing  a life long positive attitude to reading!

Could we please  ask you to provide a box of tissues for use in the classroom

(as we discussed at our induction meeting). We do encourage children to have

tissues at hand and practice ‘Catch It, Bin It, Kill It’ to keep the spread of colds etc  to a  minimum.

Could your child please bring a plastic water  bottle to school with a 'pull up top' labelled with their name. We will be encouraging all the children to remain hydrated and to develop healthy habits and routines in this important first year at school.

Thank You again for your co-operation and support in ensuring such a positive start to the school year for your child. We look forward to seeing parents/carers at our reading meeting on 21st October and of course to chatting with you each morning before the start of the day.
